The nice thing about doing a crossword puzzle is, you know there is a solution .... Stephen Sondheim

There's always a crossword book sitting at my side when I am watching sports. The medium-to-hard type of crossword, not the kind you would find in the New York Times (I've never been able to get the hang of them).

I don't mean to offend anyone but the problem is that it seems like all these books are made in the USA, and I have come to the conclusion that in order to solve many of these puzzles you need to be a Jewish US citizen who speaks latin and is conversant in history, geography, literature, movies and sports.
Well, I have the last two captured but here's a few clues as to why I am lacking in the other requirements ...

Jewish calendar month (5 letters)
Utah senator (10 letters)
Maine college town (5 letters)
Part of Caesars boast (4 letters)
Algerian city (4 letters)
Renaissance family name (4 letters)
The Hollow Men poet (5 letters)

Anyway, to overcome my frustration I decided to create my own crossword. About fly-fishing. Of course!

I used a Freeware programme called EclipseCrossword at
It is very easy to use once you get the hang of it but it does have a couple of drawbacks.
One, the display is kind of small, and two, it does its best but I found there were quite a lot of answers that only contained one letter.
However, you can't beat something for free, and I think it is excellent for my purpose. The biggest problem is thinking up the clues.
